Science Education: A National Approach
Sandra Corbeil, Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation, Canada
As a national institution, responsible for preserving, interpreting and sharing scientific and technological heritage, the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporations strives to reach out to students and teachers across the country. However, initiatives that aim to promote science and technology to a national audience bring about a unique set of challenges as they endeavor to remain relevant across jurisdictions. Here, we will share what we learned by comparing and contrasting the Summer Institute for Elementary Teachers and National Science and Technology Week, two national initiatives. We will explore how we reached out to national audiences and made cross-country initiatives relevant at the local scale.
