Karma: Tools for Mapping Collection Meta-Data to Linked Open Data

Karma is a tool that makes it easy to map museum data to either the Europeana EDM or the CIDOC CRM ontologies. We will demonstrate how using Karma one can, in a few minutes, map tables from the Smithsonian American Art Museum database to either of these ontologies. We will also demonstrate how the mappings that Karma produces can be executed in batch mode, making it possible to generate the RDF for the complete database in a few minutes (about 1,000,000 triples per minute). Finally, Karma can export the mappings in the R2RML standard, making it possible to use other processing tools developed around this standard.
