Creating a Networked EPD (E-ink Paper Document) System for Museum Labeling
Miriam Langer, New Mexico Highlands University, USA, Stanley Cohen, New Mexico Highlands University, USA
The Museum EPD Labeling Project is the prototype of how to use e-paper displays for the purposes of object labeling in museums. The EPD labels will provide the Broad Museum with the ability to update their labels through a local area network.
The project is built off our early research with the AdapTag Development Kit, and addresses concerns over viewer quality by focusing on higher resolution displays. The demonstration will be a hardware and software prototype that runs two complete sets of EPD labels off two different networked nodes. This will show the ability to update separate gallery rooms through a local network. The software shall consist of an application for network nodes to update the display, and a management application to control all nodes attached to the network.
