Paris Musees Juniors

The website Paris Musées Juniors is intended for primary school teachers and every person who wants to initiate children to art. It includes a web portal, virtual visits of twelve museums of Paris and a serious game.

On the web portal, adults can find information to prepare a visit, an activity or to know more about the museums. They can also download visitor guides and pedagogic documents for children concerning each museum of Paris Musées.

The virtual visits destined for 6 to 12 aged children are grouped together on the website: Muséosphère . In autonomy or with a Grow up’s help, children can visit 5 rooms in each museum. They can also have more information about pieces of art thanks to colored mascots indicating thematic trails. To help adults give a way to skim through these virtual visits in 360°, pedagogic documents are available with quiz, glossary and museum presentations. Texts, adapted to Youngers, give explanations about artworks but also architecture or famous people’s life.  It’s a great way to prepare or to get further a visit in one of these museums.

The game proposed by Paris Musées calls “Mission Zigomar” and invites children to take part of the expedition of three young children through Paris. They have to find artworks from the museums, detained by Zigomar. This strange character believes that children shouldn’t have access to art because they don’t understand it. Gab, Hugo and Selim with the help of their coach Léo have to pass challenges through different themes to contradict him. Mission Zigomar is destined for children from 6 to 12. It brings notions about art themes and explanations of each piece of art they have collected. It’s a funny way for children to learn more about art without really realizing it.

These three different ways to discover art and Paris’ museums have been developed for extracurricular time in the schools of Paris but can be used by everyone. At least, Paris Musées Juniors is a helpful tool not only for classes, but also for art initiation, as part of cycles or just for fun at home.
